The Atelier
Our Philosophy
Ocean Yang Atelier is a classical academic art studio in Howald, Luxembourg, founded for students who want more than a casual art activity. The atelier is built around careful observation, patient practice, and the belief that strong technique gives artists greater freedom.
We believe that lasting artistic ability is built slowly, through repetition, observation, and rigorous self-examination — not through shortcuts. Every programme at Ocean Yang Atelier is structured around long-term academic progression, giving students the vocabulary to express anything they can see or imagine.
Founded in Howald
Classical training in an intimate studio
Founded in 2019 by Yang Yang, the atelier brings the discipline of traditional European academic training into an intimate Luxembourg studio. Students work from casts, master images, still life, and structured exercises before moving toward more personal work.
Teaching Focus
Academic Drawing
Students train the eye through proportion, line, shape, perspective, value, and tonal modelling. Drawing is treated as the foundation for every later artistic direction.
Bargue-Style Method
Exercises inspired by classical atelier practice teach accuracy, patience, and self-correction: first seeing clearly, then translating that observation with control.
Realist Painting
Painting classes introduce oil and acrylic technique, color relationships, composition, and the slow construction of form through light and shadow.
Master Study & Creative Development
Students learn from historical works and gradually connect those lessons to their own subjects, images, and visual voice.
